How To Produce
Successful Celebrity Events
There are several types of
events that have proven to be successful. Any one or a combination
of the following will make an enjoyable event for the audience.
Autographs
Only
Many venues
use the autograph only type of event. In the autograph only type
events the public gets to talk to the star or celebrity while getting
the autograph. Shopping malls and car shows use this event format for
most of their events.
Interview
and Q & A
This format requires only
an M.C. and the star or celebrity. To keep costs down and get
the best results it would be beneficial to get a good hot drive time
D.J. from a local radio station or some other well known local celebrity
to act as M.C. They know the area local to the event and can
inject the appropriate local humor and references. The event
would start with the M.C. opening the show and warming up the audience
for a few minutes. The M.C. would then introduce the star or
celebrity, interview them for a short time, then kick the show open
to questions and answers between the audience and the star or celebrity. This
allows the audience to get in on all the gossip and ask those questions
the stars or celebrities were hoping would not be asked. The
audience enjoys this type format very much and can go home and tell
their friends they got to talk to the star or celebrity.
Scene
with a Star Contest
A television star would normally
be used for this type show. Soap stars are excellent with this
type format. The star would bring two copies of one script from
their television show to the event. During the show, several
members from the audience would be selected to come on stage to do
a short scene with the star. This ends up being a very high energy
show, absolutely hilarious, and great fun for the audience.
A good method of selecting
the audience members to do the scene is to have anyone from the audience
interested in doing the scene with the star to hold up their hands. Then
the star or M.C. can select several people to come on stage for final
selection by the audience. The M.C. or star would then hold their
hand over each contestant's head and the audience would indicate their
choice by who got the most applause, etc. This is a very high
energy part of the show. Normally everyone is clapping, whistling,
yelling, or whatever they can do to get the attention directed to their
choice.
Star/Celebrity
Look Alike Contest
This is also a great fun
type of event and allows the event producer to use either the pretty
people or character stars or celebrities. It also lets one see
the extremes some people will go to in their attempt to look like the
star or celebrity. This can also be a very high energy show.
Advertising & Promotion
Methods
Radio or TV media contests
are a excellent ways promote an event. One or more contest finalists
could be selected
from media contests prior to the event. The winner could then be selected
at the event. A grand prize could be to allow the winner(s)
to meet the celebrity back stage for a picture and autograph. Some
stars will even participate in "a dinner with the star" type
contest promotion.
